Since I was busy doing behind the scenes stuff I only was able to get a few pics taken.
I have to give a special thanks to our wonderful Den Leaders. They are so supportive of the boys and a few filled in at the last minute (literaly the night before) to help get a car put together.
The boys arrived at the "Department of Pinewood Vehicles" to register as drivers and for the final weigh-in of their cars. Boys took a driving test along with an eye exam to see if they were qualified to race. After their weight and height was recorded they were issued their "licenses" and were given "Pit Passes" allowing them to remove and return their cars to the Pit area during the racing heats. Bro. Hansen ran the computer program that made sure each car raced in each lane.
After the preliminaries were done, there were 4 cars that entered the final heat to determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place champions.
Tyler Johnson at his first Pinewood Derby took 1st place! His whole family was proud. Nate Taylor took 2nd and we had a tie for 3rd. After a tiebraker race, Joshua Blankenship ended in 3rd, leaving Parker Cummings with Honorable Mention.
2-liter trophies were awarded along with car slides for their neckerchiefs.
We had some pretty amazing car designs and each boy won special recognition along with an awsome derby patch for their uniforms.
For treats we had derby cars made out of Twinkies and Oreos - delicious!
We will see you next year at the races!
