Alaskan Adventure

Ryan and his brother, Travis headed out on an adventure of their lifetime.

Welcome to the Last Frontier!

The boys flew into Anchorage and then took a sea plane to a remote area 45 minutes from Anchorage.  They camped on this sand beach.  The plan was to hunt moose and bear (that was Travis' plan, Ryan was just along for the ride).

Wolf track...

Ryan looks like a little kid - catching a BIG fish - a Sockeye Salmon.

The mighty hunters.

They must have gotten bored...
here starts the funny boys will be boys posing shots.

Nice self defense, Ryan...  What damage are you going to do with that stick?

Oh, I guess you were fighting off a wild Alaskan kangaroo...

oh no! a wild animal, possibly a bear...

The mighty hunter chased him up a tree

Role reversal...

He spots something...

A moose!

Catching a Northern Pike.

Sweet!

Isn't he a romantic...

But goofey too...

♥ BRO FRIENDS FOREVER ♥

The Bachelor Pad.

After Travis' many casts, Ryan took the pole and caught this nice Rainbow Trout.

Visiting their sister, Kelly and her family.

We are so glad he is home!  We missed you Daddy!

4 years past 29

My birthday was great!  School started for Ethan and we had no fighting at our house for 6 whole hours.  Ryan took me to dinner with my friend Tiffany.  I splurged and got the ribs and loaded sweet potato at Texas Roadhouse.  The kiddos were watched by Ryan's parents so we came back to their house for cake.

My sisters made me an AMAZING cake.  I am so glad they bake!  It was a Cheesecake Factory inspired cake with all my favorites - carrot cake layered with cheesecake!

Ryan didn't know what to get me and instead of my hints for new jeans at the Buckle, he remembered me talking about a game I played at my recent family reunion so he got me my own.
I am now the proud owner of Settlers of America! - part of the Catan series.  We have yet to play it but I am sure it will soon become a family addiction!

Here's to another year...  Hopefully I am getting wiser and not just older!

Back to School

Ethan is so excited to start 3rd grade.  Even though he isn't looking forward to homework, he is happy to have Mrs. Knighton for his teacher.  At back to school night, he found out he gets to sit by 2 of his neighbors, Tanner Jensen and Oakley Rasmussen.

We hope this is his best year in school yet!

Zoorasic Park

Our last Summer hurrah! before school started was Hogle Zoo.  The dinosaurs were the hit of the day!

Some spit water at you.  The kids enjoyed getting cooled off with Dino spit.

Monkeying around with the monkeys!

The Dinos were so life like.

A group shot... as good as you can with an 8, 6, 5 and three 2 year olds.

So excited to finally find T-Rex!

Watching the Giraffe

Playing follow the leader with Ethan because he is "so cool"

The girls had to copy the boys.

It was a fun day to spend together with friends.  Thanks to the Buttars for joining us!

seeing your name in print

You can see the pure joy on his face.
We drove to Oxford, ID for a family reunion and on the way, near Swan Flat, we spotted this road sign.  It was a must to get a pic on our way home.

While traveling in Yellowstone, we also spoted a yellow caution sign that said
WATCH OUT
FOR
STOCK
We showed it to Stockton and his reply was so cute.  "There must be another Stockton here, they aren't talking about me."  Stockton is my little sweetheart so I tend to agree with him.  If it would have said Watch out for ETHAN I would have believed it!  Ryan explained to the kids that STOCK was short for LIVESTOCK - meaning watch out for animals.

Whatever the sign means, Ethan is still miffed that we have seen 2 signs with Stockton's name and none with his!  He even remembers seeing a picture of Uncle Jordan on his mission with a Jordan street sign.
Keep your eyes out for an Ethan sign!
