Once August hits, you seem to get into back to school mode. I enjoyed going with some girls to Park City for an overnighter. I booked us a room at the Westgate and we didn't check in until 10pm (we left home at 9am!) because we were having so much fun shopping, going to lunch and dinner. I only knew 2 of the 5 other girls going and I think I met some really fun friends! We laughed until our cheeks hurt.
It was a fabulous get-a-way for sure!
As a last Summer hurrah, Ryan took the day off of work, we found a sitter for Peyton and we went to Lagoon with the boys. I left the camera home but wished I had it to capture the fun and cuteness of the kids. I remember using my "Eye Camera" to remember things like -
The boys laying on the hot cement of Lagoon-a-beach (looking like they were tanning) but really they were drying off / trying to get warm. For some reason my kids hate cold water - even when it is refreshing and perfect on a hot summer day. They are constantly looking for a Hot Tub! Well, when I finally got through to them that there was no Hot Tub at Lagoon-a-beach they found another way to get warm!
I came back from riding a tube ride and found the boys sitting inside tubes on the cement like little critters in their shells waiting for Ryan to go down the steep slide. It was a cute sight!
Stockton was just 1/4 of an inch too short to ride the bigger rides (if only we had him wear his thicker soled shoes!!) He was so sad that he didn't get to ride the Bat. And Ethan was so scared. - He didn't dare ride anything and he was tall enough... Stockton didn't think it was fair. (Maybe next year, if you eat ALL your veggies. (*wink*) ). As we were riding the Sky Ride over the park, Stockton kept pointing out, "I want to do that, and that..."
Lucky for us our good neighbor was there and entertained the kids while Ryan and I got to ride some adult rides... It brought back fond memories of dating... It was so fun standing in line together talking and screaming together!
I dislike throwing money away to play the games of chance. Ryan however, had to show off his 3 point shooting skills and won a stuffed tiger and a jazz bear for the boys. Another funny eye camera shot was seeing Ryan come off of the Musical Express with the kids wearing a "man purse" (really my small messenger bag) and looking prego with his shirt stuffed with his winnings. I had left him to go ride wicked one more time! with my friend and didn't know he would entertain 3 little kids on a ride.
It was a fun filled day! We stayed until they wouldn't let us go on any more rides and the kids fell asleep in their jammies on the way home.
We have one more family reunion and one more camping trip and then we will officially say goodbye to Summer! Thank goodness for the memories!
